Lower Mustang Tour

The Lower Mustang Tour is a moderately easy Himalayan trek in northern Nepal, following the Kali Gandaki Valley from Jomsom to Muktinath (3,800 m) without requiring the restricted area permit needed for Upper Mustang.

The tour offers a unique blend of cultural and natural highlights, including the Tibetan-style village of Kagbeni, traditional Thakali settlements like Marpha with its apple orchards, and the sacred Muktinath Temple, a pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists.

The landscape is strikingly dry and arid due to the rain-shadow effect, featuring deep gorges, colorful cliffs, and panoramic views of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Nilgiri ranges.

Accommodation is available in tea houses along the route, permits are limited to ACAP and TIMS, and the best seasons to trek are spring and autumn, offering clear skies and pleasant temperatures.

Overall, Lower Mustang combines cultural immersion, scenic diversity, and moderate trekking challenges in a short, accessible Himalayan adventure.
